Blog #1 Success Series What do You Really Want from Your Career and Life?

So many times in my life I was sure I knew what I wanted: Money, Nice home, Husband, Children, a Bestselling Book and the Fame to go with it. It took me several years to understand that many of the things I thought I wanted were not even close to what would make me Happy and Satisfied.

I would think, I’ll finally be successful when I can buy a new car, or live in a 3,000 square foot house, or when my salary is greater than $100,000 per year.

Well, let’s see, how did all that work for me? My house was 2650 square feet, brick, five bedrooms, and three full baths, with a great room, a dining room, and a fantastic open
kitchen. My spouse was a successful attorney, and I was an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse. According to the world’s standards, we were successful. We could pay our bills, and we could travel. But, we were not happy. We were not satisfied, and we ended up divorced, alone, and still reaching for satisfaction and true happiness.
Are you truly happy? Are you truly satisfied?

Close your eyes and let all of the rest of the world go away for a while. What natural talents and gifts do you have? What did you want to be when you were growing up? When did you, or did you give up on that dream?

I dare you to take a moment and write out what your most perfect dream day would
be if there were no boundaries or hindrances to keep you from obtaining perfection.
What would happiness and satisfaction look like to you? Happiness + Satisfaction = True Success.

Now, is what you are doing right now bringing you any closer to where you wish to be? Can you see that perfect day in your future?

Finding who I was and what would really make me happy became my goal. At the end of 2016 I took an assessment of the items mentioned above: my natural talents, what brings me joy, and found that I love writing, but as much as or more than that, I like to help others, to promote them in their efforts to obtain true happiness and success. Currently, I have set up a plan and goals to succeed in my writing career, and goals to advocate for and help others in their endeavor toward success. It is my hope that you and I will share in this journey together.

I invite you to sign up to receive this blog each week. I also want you to know that we will be continuing along this path in collaboration with Coach Nikki B.
